Large-format drawings of ancient Cretan olive trees
Together with photographer René Rötheli I made three journeys to Crete. We sought out one of the oldest olive orchards of the south coast, where we worked on a daily basis for several weeks. The study of these fabrics of age, fruit, and time («Gewirke aus Alter, Frucht und Zeit», Erhard Kästner) became the central focus of our drawings, paintings, and photography.
Back in our studio in Windisch, we used our sketches and photgraphic drafts for large paintings. We first presented our work as a preview in our new studio in 1993 and in the parish hall Spittel in Küttigen (CH) in 1995.
