Searching for the blue of the Apulian sky<\/h2>\n

\u00abOn my interesting yet desperate search for particular shades of blue it became clear to me that there are certain shades that simply cannot be achieved by blending colours. I discovered pigments that have become absolutely essential to my work, one after the other: so many colours that can\u2019t be obtained from other colours. Did they not tell us at college that every hue could be blended\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n

In Otranto I painted two series of pictures:<\/p>\n

\u00abCome \u00e8 profondo il mare \u2013 Wie tief das Meer ist\u00bb
\n\u00abCome \u00e8 rosso il papavero \u2013 Wie rot der Mohn ist\u00bb<\/p>\n

These works were an important stage in my development from representational painting to monochrome, non-representational painting.<\/p>\n
